Nova Scotia

You Betcha!

This trip will be for the flexible, resilient, culture loving, nature loving woman who understands that weather may change the itinerary on any day, but the efforts are well worth the experiences gained along the way.

Day One: Saturday, Sept 28th

Flights into Halifax Stanfield Airport. Make sure your flights come in no later than 4 p.m. Free shuttle to hotel where we will have an evening meet and greet, dinner, and run through the itinerary for the week. Meals included: D

Day two: Sunday, Sept 29th

We're off to beautiful downtown Halifax. We'll have the opportunity to visit The Canadian Museum of Immigration, walk the seaside boardwalk, meander through the Halifax Seaport farmers market and shops, visit historic Citadel Hill, and grab a local delight for lunch at the market or at any of the numerous restaurants nearby. Depending on the giddy up of the group we will either do an early morning departure to see Peggy's Cove sans all the other tourists or maybe take a late afternoon drive to catch sunset at the cove instead. Overnight in Halifax. Meals included: B

Day three: Monday, Sept 30th

Today our aim is to be educated and view the world's highest tides both at an interpretive center to get the low-down on what exactly happens and why, and at a fun hot spot to see the wave coming in to what looks to be only a dry river bottom. Yup, we think we'll all "GrOw" on this day and learn some fascinating facts to impress friends back home. After viewing the tide, we'll hop in our vehicle to head to Parrsboro, maybe catch a few stops at some lighthouses along the way, and stay at an amazing little hotel with a lake out back. Meals included: B,L

Day four: Tuesday, Oct 1st

It's your day to choose your activity: head out either on a tidal kayak tour or a leisurely hike centered around the amazing Bay of Fundy. Our day will include experiencing the world's highest tidal changes and the views that come with it while munching on a locally sourced picnic lunch. Cross your fingers for ideal weather! If everyone is game, we'll dine at Nova Scotia's premier restaurant right in Advocate Harbour. Rumor has it that it's been reviewed as the best in Nova Scotia! Afterward it's back to our cute hotel in Parrsboro. Meals included: B,L

Day five: Wednesday, Oct 2nd

It's off to Cape Breton Island for a little culture, Ceilidhs, and scenery. We'll check out the Mabou area where we'll tour the Glenora Distillery and hear the history of the Scottish immigrants and the first single malt whisky in North America.  We'll have time to fiddle around this day with a Ceilidh at a local pub or at the Judique Celtic Interpretive Center.  We're going to take in as much Scottish history and tap our feet to as much Celtic music as we can this day! Also, if the weather permits, we'll stroll along the breathtaking beaches and boardwalks as well. We'll rest our heads at seaside cabins along the Gulf of St. Lawrence tonight.

Meals included: B

Day six: Thursday, Oct 3rd

This is a packed day! Weather permitting, we will be thrilled by a whale boat tour with a local family who has fished the area for years. We hope to catch a few whales and seals in their nature made playground. It will include a stop at the Whale Interpretive Center along the way to learn more about these amazing mammals. Any spare time (yeah, right!) will be spent exploring everything from beaches and quaint shops to the evening dining experience at any of the local eateries in the area. Once again we'll be staying at a homey hotel with a water view. Meals included: B,L

Day seven: Friday, Oct 4th

This morning we drive to Skyline Trail to test our hiking skills on this breathtaking and fairly easy 4 mile hike. It is considered the most popular and most loved trail on Cape Breton. The Acadian village of Cheticamp is just a hop and a skip from the trail. Let's spend some time moseying around this quaint town and grab a bite to eat together at the boulangerie or another cute French restaurant. Yes, this is the French part of Cape Breton. Bonjour! There's even a lovely little boardwalk to enjoy along the harbor before we make our way back to the Halifax area for our last overnight. Of course, we'll be spontaneously stopping at any harbor to take those last minute pictures of quaint lighthouses and colorful skiffs that scream "Nova Scotia!" We'll end where we began...enjoying dinner together. This time though, we'll be sharing a lifetime of lasting memories and highlights from the week. We are sure there will be many! Overnight in Enfield. Meals included: B,D

Day Eight: Saturday, Oct. 5th

Fly out with amazing memories and goodbyes to new friends. Meals included: B

Maximum group size: 10
