Vancouver Island

British Columbia's Island Gem

The mountains will inspire you, the waterfalls will amaze you, and the Strait of Georgia will beckon you.

Come relish the beauty of Vancouver Island!

Day One, Sunday, Sept 13th

Flights into Victoria and shuttles into the bustling capital city. Please plan to arrive no later than 4 p.m. to give yourself time to grab the shuttle and settle into the hotel before our meet and greet at 6:30 this evening. Depending upon your arrival time, the day is yours to mosey around Victoria and hit a few of the hot spots.

Day Two, Monday, Sept 14th

We'll enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning and then hit the road for the spectacular Kinsol Trestle, one of the world's tallest timber rail structures. It's a pretty impressive sight! The opportunity to walk the height of the structure and take lots of pictures will be ours. From there we drive on to one of the island's cutest old town markets. Ice Cream, coffee, veggies, fruits, homemade baked goods, and all sorts of fresh Canadian pleasures are there for the tastin'!

Will there be room in our vehicle for all of the delights? We'll then get pointed in the direction of Nanaimo for an evening to immerse ourselves in the beauty of this lovely harbor town and our first night along the Strait of Georgia. Meals: B

Day Three, Tuesday, Sept 15th

The Provincial Parks of Vancouver Island are breathtaking and today we plan to hike into Englishman River Falls to visit some of our first jaw dropping sights. We'll hike a few miles and clamor over obstacles to get the best pics. Not far from Englishman and back toward the Strait of Georgia is Rathtrevor Beach where we can experience the massive tidal changes that take place on the east coast of the island. We'll check the tidal schedules so we catch the whole experience.

If we're motivated, the possibility of rising early as a group and catching sunrise from the beach is always an option. The day is ours! Our night will be spent near the coast again at a cozy little motel in Parksville. Meals: L

Day Four, Wednesday, Sept 16th

Back into another provincial park we go with our hiking shoes, cameras, and picnic lunches. Little Qualicum Falls boasts some heady competition with Englishman River Falls. You be the judge. Cameron Lake is nearby to not only admire but for those of you who want to enjoy a brisk swim...have at it! After you brave souls dry off our next stop will be MacMillan Provincial Park to view the giant Douglas Fir trees...some more than 800 years old. It's a very peaceful place to stroll among these majestic pillars. When we've had enough time here, we're off to Campbell River to call this charming town along the Strait of Georgia ours for the next three nights. Meals: B,L

Day Five, Thursday, Sept 17th

Have you counted how many parks we've visited so far? Add the oldest provincial park in British Columbia, Strathcona, to the list today. Be prepared for quite a few short hikes, stops, and stunning views along every turn as we travel down route 28. We'll have a picnic lunch at one of the stops when our tummies begin to growl. Back to Campbell River for the evening when we've taken it all in. Meals: L

Day Six, Friday, Sept 18th

Whales! Whales! Whales! Let's cross our fingers that we'll spot some of Vancouver Island's graceful cetaceans as we spend a day with a professional guide. Killer whales, Minke whales, porpoises, dolphins, seals, sea lions, we're bound to witness some of their playful behavior on our 6 hour tour. We'll depart right from Campbell River and return later in the day for another leisurely evening to stroll the paved path along the Strait of Georgia, grab a bite to eat, shop, or just relax in our rooms. Meals: L

Day Seven, Saturday, Sept 19th

It's our last full day on the island. This day will be determined by the group's desires. We'll take you out for a delightful breakfast and make our way south to the capital city. We can make stops along the way, drive into Sydney and explore Canada's "book town" with a dozen new and used book stores, visit Buchart Gardens, stroll along the coast, or bop back into Victoria for one last shot of exploring things we missed on day one. We'll treat you to a farewell dinner this evening for one last hurrah together. Meals: B,D

Day Eight, Sunday, Sept 20th

Flights out of Victoria with memories to last a lifetime and new friendships to boot! Please make sure your flights aren't any earlier than 8:30 a.m. as you will have to pick up the shuttle for a 35 minute ride into the airport.

Maximum group size: 10
